A Trip To The Anitque Store!

You could have not asked for a more beautiful spring day than what we had here in Kentucky today and you could not help but feel good! Here at the Steward homestead, we were especially grateful for this spring day because to put it mildly, since the end of February things have been a bit stressed around here. We have found ourselves going thru one of those seasons of life that we all must go thru. You know the ones I am talking about, when it seems like nothing goes as it should and everything is a fight. However you know if you hold tight, God will bring you thru stronger and a better person because of it.

Jackie decided that I would benefit from a little time away from the farm so I could relax and recharge my batteries. Unusual for me, I have admittedly been a touch crabby as of late and I believe the real truth for this trip was his quest to find his “real” wife again! It has been some time since we have made a trip to my very favorite antique shop, Our Pickett Fence Antiques and Primitives, and wouldn’t you know that is exactly where the truck stopped this afternoon. It is not a store to big or to small that you lose interest and to put it in the infamous words of Goldilocks, it is just the right size. I love it because they have so much of the old kitchen items that my mom and grandma used when I was a child. Just going in and looking around transports me back in time to when I was a child. And they have very good pricing so I can indulge myself in a piece or two without feeling guilty. Jackie was not a fan of antique stores when we first married, but over time he has come to enjoy browsing man things and we have purchased a piece or two for his workshop. I do not know what it is about that place but I always leave feeling energized and just plain happy. Today’s picture is of our friend Hannah who works at the store and she is wrapping up a vintage red percolator we found.

So I now find myself relaxed, calmed down, recharged and ready to go again. We all need that from time to time and if we do not indulge ourselves we forget what is important and focus on all the wrong things.

Until we meet here again, I pray God bless you and keep your loved ones safe.
