1 pound lean ground beef, turkey or chicken

1 large onion, chopped

2 cloves garlic, chopped

1 1/2 cups water

1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce

1 (15 ounce) can diced tomatoes

1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

1-2 bay leaves

1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce

1-2 teaspoons seasoned salt

pepper to taste

1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni


In a Dutch oven, saute` meat over medium high heat until well cooked. Drain off any grease. Add onions and garlic to pot and saute` until tender, about 5 minutes.

Add water along with tomato sauce, tomatoes, all seasonings and soy sauce. Stir well. Bring to a simmer, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes. Add the elbow macaroni and stir well. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes. Turn off heat. Remove bay leaves and allow the mixture to sit, covered, for about 30 more minutes before serving.

Recipe may be doubled.

You can substitute any shape macaroni you like.
