We Have Moved Into The 21st Century!

Well folks, after three long years of "friendly" discussion, debate, contemplation and preparation, the central air conditioning and heating unit is here and in the process of being installed. As I type. Jackie is busy pacing back and forth, lending a helping hand when he can. Truth be told that is what has Jackie's nerves tore up, not being able to jump in and do the installation himself. The little boys are out of sorts as they don't like having strangers in the house. Winston especially takes it hard and is sitting on my lap as I type. And me, well while I am on stand by, am updating you after of course being a good hostess and offering the men doing the installation some freshly baked cookies and sweet tea.

Those of you in my age group will remember whenever someone came to you home, the first thing you did was offer them something to eat and drink. It mattered little the reason for the visit, it was just something you did. Sadly, like so many other neighborly practices, hospitality has quickly become a thing of the past. In general the prevailing attitude seems to be either I didn't invite you or your are here to do a job.

In the Bible, Hebrews 13:2 tells us, "Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it." (NIV Translation) However beyond that, it occurs to me that those small acts of kindness we extend to people, strangers in particular, may allow them to see the light of Christ in us. I have always believed the best testimony we can offer is not the ones we give with words but rather the one we give by the way we live our life and the small acts of kindness we extend to the people in the world around us.

Until we meet here again, I pray God bless you and keep your loved ones safe.

Jackie "supervising", LOL. You gotta love this little man of mine.
